13-year-old Sofi moves involuntary from the big city to the countryside with her mother, and her mother's boyfriend while all her friends is back in the city. At the new place Sofi meet up with a wise old lady, that tells her scary stories about unsolved mysteries from the village past.
Autumn 1978 in suburban Sweden. Everything seems to be fine with the middle class Bendrick family with their two teenage children and a younger son, until the mother starts seeing her first love again after 20 years. Just like their badly built house, the family façade starts slowly crumbling into pieces. The daughter, 15, finds her first love, and the boys too are puzzled by their own questions around adolescence and sexuality. The father tries to keep up a happy face, while the youngest son is the first and the most sensitive to realize how the family is heading towards a disaster.

Barbro Anna Elisabet Kollberg was a Swedish film and theatre actress, theatre leader and educator. She studied at the Royal Dramatic Theatre School 1937-40. She was engaged at the Blanche Theatre, Stockholm. In 1943 she was approached by director Gösta Cederlund to play the leading role as Marta in the feature film "Kungsgatan". This was her 10th film, but the most significant and a very difficult role. Barbro Kollberg appeared in 46 feature films and a number of television productions during her long career 1939-2006.
